The Machine of Horizontal Dreams by Pepa Ubera
The Machine of Horizontal Dreams is an immersive, interdisciplinary performance work that reimagines Western notions of progress through collective dreaming, ecological thinking, and embodied imagination.
Proposed as a living, breathing choreographic ecosystem, the work invites audiences into a landscape where slowness, pleasure, and relational presence become radical tools for rethinking of how we move forward together.
Through choreography, sound, video, light, and participatory performance, the piece unfolds as a multi-sensory environment in which bodies and technology co-create new temporalities.
As a major commission that premiered at Sadler’s Wells East in Autumn 2025, The Machine of Horizontal Dreams continues Pepa Ubera’s long- term research into the intersections of embodiment, technology, and collective imagination.

As part of The Machine of Horizontal Dreams, the videos were projected onto the interior of a circular installation on the theatre stage, which the audience could enter and experience from within.
