‘WATCHING ME WATCHING U’ by Violet Savage

Watching Me Watching U is a film made from an ongoing series of workshops at Chisenhale Dance Space since the start of this year. The project explores the blurring of process into performance and opens a space for the simultaneity of watching, listening and movement. The workshops guide participants, through a series of improvisational and accumulative tasks, into a communal practice of learning and creation. Intention is activated and subsumed by momentum, time is stretched and consciousness dispersed, opening space for self expression as both an individual and collective body. Every workshop is conceived as a vital encounter, the choreography that emerges is specific and unique to the exchange between those who are present.

The film was made in collaboration with the sonic and visual arts practices of LWM and Noah Bador, and was danced by Violet Savage, Willow Fenner, Liv Devine, Nell Weatherby, Matesuz Piekarski, Polly Mann, Sari Mizoe, Izzy Doick and Ciar Wild.
