Chapter 3 | Sonic Spectres

‘ÉTERNELLES ERRANCES’ by Franziska Boehm and Hannah Archambault

November 2026

ÉTERNELLES ERRANCES by Franziska Boehm and Hannah Archambault //

The piece plays with sound in stillness and movement in silence to give space for the sound to exist and the movement to be embraced.

Our backs on the floor, the piece was created by a sound emerging from a place of resting. Taking the shape of humming, it came after a sequence of movement like the calm after the storm.

There is something interesting about humming as you don’t quite decipher its source as an audience. The mouth is closed but the sound reverberates through the bones and the tissues of the body.

Our work is based on improvisation, following our intuition and listening to each other.

Playing with words that are not from our mother tongues we leaned into the sonic qualities of them: we explored stretching and repetition so that they lose their meaning and become sounds, texture, rhythm, pulse, vocals, breath.

Editor’s note: This site-specific performance was commissioned by Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles in Paris and performed 2025. Scoring a sense of wandering —  the audience was invited to explore the space for its acoustic and textural qualities.
