Trigger Warning sexual abuse/rape
Description by the artist:
The rope that I’m pulling out of the “werdersee” (lake in Bremen, Germany) is made of clothes that I got raped in. Through this project I tried to change my view of Bremen by using art practically and going to places that I have avoided but once enjoyed.
Therefore, I decided to go back to my childhood home and spend the summer of 2025 there with the aim to reclaim the city with its places back for me.
The process of pulling out the rope is a process of bringing my experiences to the surface, visualising them in the attempt to make them more tangible for me and for the bystanders. While this project is biographical it's important for me to see it in a bigger context.
Abuse, Missoginy, porn addiction, loneliness are systematic (to name a view things).
Our systems are constructed to sympathise with the abuser and doubt the victims.
